My brother spent ten years writing an epic fantasy novel. I loved it. I did quite a bit of art for it over the years, and when he asked me for a series of sketches which could become a calendar, I was delighted to oblige.

At one point, my brother mentioned that the events of the novel he wrote would have been chronicled within the fictional universe of the story by a rather zany secondary character. I think I was the one to suggest she would have been responsible for these illustrations as well.

If Gwyn was responsible, I argued, no way would she not include a bizarre self-portrait of some kind.

Thus this piece was born.

Gwyn's Self-portrait

Random pictures of hands on the internet are your friend. Use them, and use them wisely. Keep in mind that they can be flipped, rotated, stretched, and otherwise manipulated for your purposes.

This piece was probably the closest I got to sketching in a computer the same way I sketch on paper.

Gosh, darn it! Now I wanna go just do sketches in Photoshop!
