So, Bill and I are getting ready for the holidays. For those of you who don’t know, forgot, or had better things to be doing with your time: Bill is the temporary name I gave to the work-in-progress novel for NaNoWriMo.

I still think of him as Bill, for what it’s worth, but now he’s got himself a proper title.

We got acquainted in the halls of the FBI, we flirted when my protagonist was diagnosed with amnesia, and off we went down the starry-eyed trail of broken memories, building boats, bar-tending, bakeries, and the Blackmore twins. This story gave me a good time. I was ready for it, and I just loved it. Start to finish, I had fun.

That’s not to say I didn’t have fears or doubts. Sure, right around 30K, I thought that I might royally destroy everything if I didn’t write it well enough. A minor, crippling bit of anxiety, but – as is the nature of NaNoWriMo – I just kept writing.

I finished 50K on the 30th. The story is almost finished: it just needs a few more words on the epilogue.

Bill and I are hardly through; we’ve had too much fun these last 33 days – I think we have a beautiful journey ahead of us.First, to finish, then to revise, then to edit, and then…

I think we will have a series.
